Nikita's Dream

A young girl named Nikita was 8 years and born into a poor family in a small country town of #Jharkhand. Her #father was a #truck driver and drunker who used to spend most of his earning for drinking Hariya.

So all the time her mother fought with her father and usually Nikita gets upset for family quarreled. Her father loved Nikita and promised her not to drink when she complained, but her father all the time excused for her sin but very next morning he forget everything.

Durgapuja was famous festival near her village. For so many years Nikita dreamed of celebrating Durgapuja like every other child more fortunate than her. She lived in a small house with her mother and father. Nikita decorated their small home with leaves and other available decorative items like  pretty coloured bits of paper and unwanted ornaments she found. Lately she had been very excited as it was the festive season of Durgapuja.

It was Puja Eve and Nikita had one wish, something she had dreamed about for many years. To wake up on Puja Days to find an amazingly large and beautifully decorated Puja Pandel and perfectly decorated idol of Maa Dugrga along with others idols..., but more importantly she wanted to celebrate Puja with a lovely new dress.

That night as Nikita crawled into her rusty old bed, she prayed to have a Durgapuja like every other child more fortunate than her. That morning Nikita woke to realise it was Dussera! As she tip toed out of her bed she was overwhelmed with excitement, however the thought of being disappointed again was quite possible. Lying underneath the bed was a gift. She carefully unwrapped the gift and it was a beautiful frock with bright blue buttons .

Nikita held her dress close to her chest and adored her gift. She went into her mother’s bed and lay beside her, she could smell the natural sweet odour of her mum and showed her the gift. Her mother stroked Nikita’s hair and kissed her softly on her cheek and wished she was able to give her daughter more. Nikita drifted off to sleep again and felt happy.

Later on that day Nikita and her parents shared a spicy meal with a lovely succulent roast chicken and a sweet pudding for dessert.

This #Durgapuja proved to Nikita that dreams can come true!,  since then her father realise the meaning of true love and stop drinking forever and they lived happily forever.

Note : This is my own story written based on imagination.
